Network+ Certification Training II
Course Description and Prerequisites:
Network+ Certification II builds upon the skills acquired in the Network+ Certification Training course.
Students will delve deeper into such topics as: LANs and the Internet lower layers, Internet application
level protocols, and the setup and configuration of Windows and UNIX.
Students must have completed the Network+ Certification Training course or have a similar background.
Course Syllabus:
Communications Sub-network Review
Organization, architecture, and protocols for LANs and the Internet lower layers
(e.g., cabling and wireless technologies, Ethernet, IP and related protocols, UDP, and TCP)
Configuration and analysis of these networks including the use of appropriate
tools
Equipment used in these sub-networks
Protocols and Standards
Identify Internet application level protocols used today including SNMP (email),
MIME, SMTP, DNS, FTP, Telnet, HTTP, BGP, and TFTP
Consideration of standards bodies working in the Internet application area
Learn the tools used in network analysis and diagnosis of application protocols
Troubleshooting application protocols
Network Implementation
Learn how to setup and configure these network applications for both Windows
and UNIX operating systems
Network Support
Learn to use network application utilities
Troubleshoot application protocol and network problems
Know the guidelines for how to perform network administration in various
situations
