IT 456 Linux +

Course Description:

The Linux+ Certificate Program is designed to introduce students to the intricacies of the Linux operating system administrative techniques, as well as the user interfaces. Students completing this class will be well positioned for the Linux+ Certification Exam and to seek employment as Linux system administrators.

Prerequisites:

Students should have a good grasp of any operating system (DOS, Windows, etc.) with knowledge of file and directory concepts.

Topics include but are not limited to:

From an administrative perspective:
  • Install the operating system
  • Configure the network
  • Administer the file systems
  • Manage processes
  • Troubleshoot problems and examine system performance
  • Backup and restore data


  • As a general user:
  • Understand file system structure
  • Learn file management techniques
  • Know the graphical user interfaces included with Linux
