IT 311 Introduction To Programming Using Java Course Description: This course introduces the concepts of object-oriented design and implementation approach in Java programming language. Participants will use different tools to understand some basic design patterns and know how to apply them into real world situations. Object-Oriented based design knowledge and how to implement in Java language will be discussed. Prerequisites: Basic understanding about software development and some coding experience in C or C++. Who should attend: Professionals wanting to learn Java, including programmers and non-programmers. Expected Outcomes: Each successful student will demonstrate: Course Syllabus: Introduction to Computer Programming Languages This section of the course introduces the students to Low-level machine languages, Compiled programming languages, Structured languages (SQL, JCL, TCL) Scripting languages and macros Markup languages.Introduction to Object Oriented Programming This section will include classes on Classes and Objects, Inheritance and Encapsulation and about Compiling and Running a first Java application.Fundamental Programming Structures in Java Data Types, Assignments and initializations, Operators.Working with Data Using variables, String manipulation, Arrays.Conditional Structures in Java The IF Statement, The IF ELSE Statement, The CASE SWITCH Construct.Iteration Constructs in Java The FOR Loop, The WHILE Loop.Exceptions and Error Handling Exception Handling, Customizing your own exceptions.Graphics Programming and Printing Frames and windows, Text and fonts, Colors and shapes, Paint mode and image acquisition.Beginning Java Applet Programming The Applet class, The Applet Tag, Embedding Applets in a web page.Intermediate Java Applet Programming Converting applications to Applets, Passing information to Applets, Multimedia, Overview of advanced Applet programming.
