ColdFusion Certificate Program Course Description and Prerequisites: This course is designed for students with a technical background that are interested in learning how to evaluate, use, and deploy state-of-the-art tools and techniques needed to develop a reliable e-commerce offering on the Web. Course will cover specific programming/development tools based on DreamWeaver, ColdFusion, JavaScript, ODBC, SQL and other state-of-the-art tools. This class will provide students with hands-on exposure needed to design and build a fully functional e-commerce Web site. The prerequisites include completion of the Internet Design and Webmaster Certificate and the Oracle and Visual Basic in Client/Server Applications Certificate Program or equivalent experience using a relational database and writing JavaScript and HTML code. Course Syllabus: This course covers but is not limited to the following topics: Web Development Process and Tools: plan page layout, database, application development. Prototyping Tools and Techniques: web site hierarchy, screen sketches, site structure conventions, cascading style sheets, introduction to DreamWeaver. Database Design Tools and Techniques: relational database fundamentals, functionality, analysis, table and field definitions, import/export techniques, filters, queries, relationships, normalization. Business Rules: definition, methodology, pseudocoding and validating business rules. Using ColdFusion Studio: CodeSweeper, find & replace, views, custom settings, help, online resources. Designing the Architecture (both server and client sides): flowcharting the logic, designing application structure, modules, functions, includes, custom tags, maintenance screens, application template page, variables, SQL, interfacing with a database. Basic Programming Tools and Techniques: coding standards, basic ColdFusion constructs, debugging techniques, ColdFusion forms, SQL Query Builder, form data validation, ColdFusion functions and tags. Advanced Programming: Report Writer, ColdFusion projects, advanced SQL, stored procedures, ColdFusion templates, lists, arrays, structures, interacting with e-mail, online commerce, session variables, cookies, custom tags, files and directories, directory services, source control, event scheduling. Advanced Debugging Techniques: trace statements, symbolic debugger, system compatibility. Dynamic HTML and Javascript: events, popup windows, form manipulation. Using ColdFusion Server: installation, administration.
