Enterprise Java Certificate Program Course Description and Prerequisites: This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the Java 2 Enterprise Edition Architecture and its use in the construction of large-scale "Enterprise" applications. The classes will consist of lectures, to build an understanding of the services that the architecture provides and hands-on lab work, to build an understanding of their uses. Students will be asked to design, implement, and deploy a project application that is built on the J2EE architecture. Students should have a familiarity with object-oriented analysis and design and at least one year of professional experience with Java. A thorough understanding of the core Java syntax is required as well as prior exposure and experience with JDBC and JSP. Module Overviews: Module 1: Enterprise Java Beans This module on Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) covers EJB components, design goals, basics and architecture. Session and Entity Beans and State and Life-cycle management will be considered for deploying EJB across the enterprise. EJB security will be discussed and give rise to topics including persistence, communication, transactions and container services. Module 2:
