Certificate Program
Course Description and Prerequisites:
The Programming ASP.NET with C# Certificate Program provides a comprehensive overview of Microsoft ASP.NET programming with C#. The ASP.NET programming paradigm will be compared and contrasted to ASP Classic, in order to gain a greater understanding of how the technology has advanced. As part of this historical perspective, the fundamentals of Web-based programming, such as HTML, JavaScript and IIS, will be revisited in order to establish a sound base of Web development technologies. Once student Web applications have been developed using the .Net framework, each student will have access to .NET hosting and services to deploy their class assignments and projects.
The ideal candidate for this certificate program will have some Web development and database programming experience (Microsoft or other platform) as well as a basic understanding of structured programming.
Course Syllabus:
This course covers but is not limited to the following topics:
Introduction to .NET: Microsoft development environment with Visual Studio.Net; brief overview of the C# language and other Microsoft SDK development tools.
Introduction to ASP.NET: ASP.Net development process -- ASP.NET Application, ASP.NET Page (life-cycle and object base).
Programming with ASP.NET Controls: Useful server controls available in Microsoft Web development arsenal; comprehensive and practical programming examples discussed, developed and implemented; real world implementation and usage of platform’s products.
Data Access with ASP.NET: Data access; necessary server controls to implement data access; access, update and insert data into databases created in Access, SQL Server and other non-Microsoft products; XML files as a database alternative.
.NET Security Model: Options for securing the Web application from simple forms-based authentication to the more robust NT authentication.
Extending ASP.NET: Development of custom server controls and .NET components beyond the Microsoft .NET framework.
Deploying .NET Applications: Accessing .NET hosting and services to deploy class assignments and projects.
